The 30-day clock on your Google Ads account, and what actually stops it

Verification is a deadline problem before it is a paperwork problem. Google gives 30 days, says the deadline cannot be extended, and separately says review alone can take up to 30 days. Those two numbers do not leave the room people assume they have.
- Submit in the first week, not the last. The review clock is not the same clock as your deadline.
- Match the name character for character. Google asks that document details exactly match your payments profile, and a name typed differently in two places is the most ordinary way this fails.
Advertiser verification does not announce itself as an emergency. It arrives as a notice in the account with a date on it, and most people file it under things to deal with later.
The date is the problem. Google's own pages, read together, describe a squeeze that is not obvious from any one of them.
The two numbers
From Google's page on account pausing: your account will be paused if you do not submit documentation within the 30-day notice period, or do not complete verification within 30 days.
From the timelines page, asked plainly whether the deadline can be extended: no, it cannot, and you need to get verified by the deadline or the account gets paused.
Then the same timelines page says review takes up to 5 business days depending on the task, and that in rare cases review can take up to 30 days.
Read those together. Your deadline is 30 days. The review you have to pass sits inside it, and in a bad case is as long as the whole window. Nobody tells you which case you are in until you are in it.
There is a related ambiguity worth naming rather than glossing over. Google's wording is that if you submit within the 30-day timeframe, your account "will be unpaused after Google completes the review" - phrasing that does not promise your account stays live while a late submission is being reviewed. I have not found a page that settles it either way. Treat that uncertainty as a reason to submit in week one, which removes the question entirely.
What a pause actually does
Google's page is specific: paused accounts cannot run any ads, but you keep access to the account and its reports.
So this is not deletion. It is your campaigns stopping, at a moment chosen by a deadline you were told about weeks earlier. If your ads are your only source of orders, that is the whole business stopping.
There is a second route to the same place: Google says that excessive failed attempts at verification will also pause the account. Attempts are not free, which is an argument for getting the documents right once rather than trying things.
What Vietnam is asked for
With Vietnam selected on Google's document requirements page, the accepted documents split into two routes.

The individual route matters more than people expect. Plenty of advertisers here are running ads on a personal payments profile with no company behind them, and assume verification means producing a business registration they do not have. It does not, provided the profile was set up as an individual in the first place.
Which route you land on follows the business type declared on your payments profile, so that declaration is worth getting right when the account is created rather than arguing about later.
The instruction that fails most attempts
One line on Google's page carries more weight than the document list above it: make sure the details in the submitted documents exactly match your payments profile info, including the organization name.
Exactly is doing real work in that sentence, and Vietnamese names give it plenty to catch:
- Diacritics. The payments profile typed without tone marks, the ID card with them.
- Name order. Family name first on the document, given name first in the profile.
- Company name form. The registration certificate carries the full legal form; the profile carries the short trading name someone typed in a hurry.
- Address. Rewritten after a merger of wards or districts on one document and not the other.
None of these feel like errors. All of them are mismatches. Fix the payments profile to match the document before you submit, rather than hoping a reviewer reads past it.
The order that works
- Open the notice and write the deadline down. It is not extendable, so it is the only fixed point you have.
- Check which route you are on - individual or organization - and whether that matches the documents you can actually produce.
- Open your payments profile beside your ID or registration certificate and reconcile them character by character. Change the profile, not the document.
- Submit inside the first week. This is the whole tactic. It buys room for a review that runs long and for one correction if something is rejected.
- If something is refused, read what was refused before resubmitting. Repeated failed attempts are their own route to a pause.
Where this sits
Verification is the second of the two ways a working ad account stops paying out from here. The other is the payment method itself, and the two are unrelated in cause but identical in effect - your campaigns stop.
If the account is refusing your card rather than asking for documents, that is the declined card problem, and it is mostly settings at your bank. If you are choosing where to advertise in the first place, the equivalent decision on the other platform is which billing model your first payment method locks in.
What not to do
Verification exists to establish that the advertiser is who the account says they are. Borrowing a company's papers, or an account already verified in someone else's name, does not pass that test so much as postpone it - and it postpones it to the moment your spend is already sitting on the account.
If you cannot verify as yourself, that is a business problem to fix at the registration office, not a documents problem to fix at Google.
Where I would not use this
- Accounts paused for policy or billing rather than verification. Different notice, different fix - check which one your account actually shows.
- Anyone hoping to verify with documents belonging to someone else. Google asks for an exact match against the payments profile, so the mismatch is the whole point of the check.

Can I get the 30-day verification deadline extended?
No. Google's timelines page answers this directly: the deadline cannot be extended, and you need to get verified by the deadline or the account gets paused.
Can I run ads as an individual in Vietnam without a business registration?
Google's Vietnam document list includes an individual route - passport, national ID card, driver's license or residence permit. The organization route is the one that asks for a business registration or investment registration certificate. Which route you are put on follows the business type on your payments profile, so declare it correctly at the start.
How long does Google take to review what I send?
Google says up to 5 business days depending on the task, and that in rare cases review can take up to 30 days. That is why the day you submit matters as much as the deadline itself.
My account is already paused. Is the money in it lost?
