Affiliate disclosure

Short version: some links here are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, the company pays me a commission. Your price is the same either way.

That is the entire business model. No ads, no sponsored posts, no paid placements, and nothing on this site is for sale to the companies I write about.

Why this matters more on a site about money

Payment companies pay affiliates well - some of them pay hundreds of dollars for a single business signup. That is a large incentive to point you at whoever pays most rather than whoever is right for you.

So here is the standard I hold myself to, and you should hold me to it:

• I move my own money through it first. Every service linked here is one I have personally used. If I stop using it, the post says so.
• The commission never sets the ranking. In more than one category, the option I recommend pays me less than the one I tell you to skip. If the rankings bend toward whoever pays most, this site is worthless to you and, before long, to me.
• Every review names who it is wrong for. If I have not found a real downside, I have not used the service long enough to publish.
• No company sees a post before it goes live. No approval, no changes requested.

How to spot the links

1. A disclosure box appears at the top of every page containing an affiliate link, before you reach the link itself.
2. The links are tagged rel="sponsored nofollow" in the page code - the standard way of declaring a paid link to search engines.
